The daylight returns
After the long polar night the light is slowly returning and slowly wins over the darkness. The land and sea takes on the most unbelievable colours of pink, purple and blue. The sun makes it's first appearance, at the beginning only very briefly but then the daylight is getting lengthened with a considerable amount of time each day.

The return of the sun is celebrated by the festival called Solfestuka. One of the highlights is the Ta Sjansen! sledge and ski race. |
